The Lancers played in the Warren Woods Tower tournament this past Saturday. For pool play they started with two set loss to a strong Utica Ford team (14-25, 14-25) continued with a two set win against Sterling Heights (25-17, 25-20), and split sets with Marine City (26-24, 25-20). After going 3-3 we earned a place in the gold bracket. This put us up against host WWT in the Gold semi finals. We started off strong against a powerful team but lost 20-25 and 10-25. 

 

Against Ford, Grace Amoe lead the team with 6 kills, Lauren Kline followed with 4 and Alana Powell with 3. Sydney Duryee led the team with 10 digs and Hannah Verhaeghe followed with 5. Aleia Benedetti came off the bench and had 4 successful service receptions.

 

In the win against Sterling Heights, the Lancers had nine aces. Three from Alyssa Fournier, Duryee and Alexa Ward contributed 2 each, and Reyna Gitschlag and Alaina Dujardin contributed 1 each. Fournier led the team with 6 kills followed by 5 from Anna Tallman, and 4 a piece from middles Ava Kern and Alexa Ward. Alex Fullemann also made her varsity debut against the Stallions.

 

In the split with Marine City, Amoe led the team with 7 kills followed by 3 from Powell. Powell, along with Tallman, contributed 2 service aces a piece. Duryee had 16 service reception attempts and no errors through the match. Gitschlag contributed 9 service reception attempts with only one error.

 

The gold bracket semi finals against Warren Woods Tower, Amoe led with 4 kills followed by 3 from Tallman and 2 from Powell. Duryee and Verhaeghe contributed 2 service aces a piece.
